What does this test check?
Rheumatoid factor is an antibody found in many people with rheumatoid arthritis, a condition where the immune system attacks the joints. It is usually ordered for painful, swollen joints, especially of the hands, with morning stiffness.
A positive RA factor does not prove rheumatoid arthritis, and a negative one does not rule it out. Doctors read it with Anti-CCP, ESR, CRP and the pattern of joint symptoms.
