Anti-CCP (anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide) antibodies are found in most people with rheumatoid arthritis and are rare in people without it. That makes it more specific than RA factor.
It can be positive early in the disease, sometimes before the joints are badly affected, which helps doctors start treatment sooner and protect the joints.
