What does this test check?
Antinuclear antibodies are made when the immune system attacks the body's own cells. ANA is the first screening test when doctors suspect an autoimmune disease such as lupus (SLE), Sjogren's syndrome or scleroderma.
A low positive ANA is common in healthy people, especially women and older adults, so the result is always read with symptoms. The ANA by CLIA costs ₹350; ANA by IFA (the reference method, with pattern) costs ₹950 if your doctor asks for it.
