What does this test check?
An ECG records the electrical activity of your heart through ten stickers placed on the chest, arms and legs. It takes about five minutes, nothing is injected, and you feel nothing at all.
It is the first test done for chest pain, palpitations and breathlessness, and the standard heart check before surgery, before starting at a gym, and for many employment and visa fitness certificates. It shows rhythm problems, evidence of a previous heart attack, and strain on the heart muscle.
An ECG is a snapshot of the minutes in which it was recorded. A normal ECG does not by itself rule out heart disease, which is why it is read alongside your symptoms, your blood pressure and, where indicated, an echo.

Do I need to fast before this test?
No special preparation or fasting is needed. You can give this sample at any time of day.
When will I get my report?
Most routine reports are delivered the same day or within 24 hours, directly on WhatsApp. Timing can vary for specialised tests, our team will tell you the expected time when you book.
Where is this done?
At Caspian Diagnostic Centre, 10-3-761/8, Ahmed Plaza, Vijay Nagar Colony, Hyderabad 500057. We are open 24/7, walk in any time or book a slot on WhatsApp.
Do I need an appointment for an ECG?
No. We are open 24 hours, every day, and an ECG is a walk-in test that takes about five minutes.
Is an ECG enough on its own?
Often not. An ECG shows the heart's electrical activity in the minutes it was recorded; a 2D echo shows the structure of the heart and how well it is pumping. They answer different questions. If you are likely to need both, ask about the Heart Health Check: a limited-period offer at ₹999 covering the ECG, the echo, a blood sugar and a consultation with our cardiologist. While it is running it costs less than the echo booked by itself.
Does it hurt?
No. Ten stickers are placed on the skin and peeled off afterwards. Nothing is injected and no current is passed into you.
